How to celebrate St Patrick’s Day

Spread the love

St Patrick’s Day is a big deal in Ireland and indeed anywhere in the world where there are Irish people. St Patrick is Ireland’s patron saint, and the celebrations are a big deal. So, if you’re gearing for big celebrations next March, here are some tips for doing it in style:

Visit a parade

Or take part in one! Parades are a huge part of celebrating the day and the major Dublin parade comes complete with floats, marching bands, dancers, musicians and balloons. For a fun day out, this parade is the one to beat.

Wear green

Of course, the best colour for the Emerald Isle is green! Any outfit on this day should incorporate as much green as possible. As March can still be a little on the chilly side, why not combine green with an iconic knitted Aran jumper from the Emerald Isle itself? For a range of Aran Sweaters, visit

Have a pint of Guinness

Across the world, double the amount of Guinness is consumed on St Patrick’s Day than a normal day. For a vibrant, bustling experience, enjoy one of the many pubs and bars celebrating the day and grab yourself a pint of the world-famous Irish Guinness.

Start the day with a full Irish

Before you start any celebrating, it’s important to set yourself up for the day. The only way to do this is with a traditional Irish breakfast consisting of sausage, bacon, fried eggs, mushrooms, beans, fried potatoes, soda bread, black pudding and tea.
